Fellow Public Servants,   The silence on the documented reports of employees and game wardens being abused, threatened and fired indiscriminately in the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) is deafening.   The only justice that can take place must be enacted by the General Assembly or the governor, since the Pennsylvania Attorney General by statute is committed to defending state entities such as the PGC and the governor himself. That office is therefore unable to handle this most serious matter.   On behalf of the employees who are asking for us to help them, I request a grand jury investigative hearing to get the facts and take sworn testimony about the PGC’s systematic abuse of employees, particularly women, and getting to the heart of what truly is destroying the PGC – corruption.

Media reports, here and here, of women employees and game wardens being abused, threatened and fired indiscriminately have already been published, so every recipient of this letter should be keenly aware of the dark workings inside the PGC’s management. Here are some excerpts from one of those reports:

“If a particular warden would key up on the radio before Hudson would answer the warden, he would say, ‘Oh, I hope you get shot in the f***ing face,’ Just that kind of stuff.”

“He literally would say things about certain [people], ‘Oh, I’d like to f*** that. I’d like to hit that.’ Or, it would be the opposite, like, ‘Oh, could you imagine ***king that?”

The Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board recently found grievances about the PGC’s toxic and illegal behavior to be valid in at least two separate cases, hereand here.  And I continue to receive information and complaints from PGC employees with increasing regularity.

Just as sunshine destroys mold, so can shining public light on a toxic work environment. The chief executive admonished lawmakers to “listen to the victims.” How does the governor intend to listen to the PGC’s victims?   Sincerely,  Representative David M.
