A functioning democracy relies on the premise that people can express their political views freely without fear of being attacked or assassinated. Political violence is political cowardice. It is unacceptable in all forms.

Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.

I know I’m a stickler for numbers/math and a general pain in your ass, BUT even you say parents think $20k is a “good deal”. As of today you have 73 million dollars for 2000 seats , that’s 36,500 per child and year two you have 425million for 12,000 seats or 35,417 per child. Why are tax payers paying a 77% premium over what it would normally cost. Are parents going to get 77% better quality? Aren’t these the same providers but instead of parents paying directly the provider will be sending the city a 77% inflated invoice of what they would have charged? Is this to cover an additional layer of government bureaucracy to administer the program? This is where Democrats and more so Socialists lose the big picture. Some of us can do math. Is the 77% markup the fraud we’re going to see going to ghost agencies with no kids? You guys have already built in the waste and abuse of the program. This is a real world example of why tax paying people leave. You piss away other people’s money. What should have happened is fine, run the programs, because of the volume of new kids who will be enrolled you should have a REDUCED cost per child because of competition from additional day cares opening and available seats. But no, somehow you almost doubled the cost of daycare for those that won’t be afforded a seat. Socialism/governemnt spending at its finest.

At our city-owned grocery stores, staples like eggs and bread will actually be affordable. And we're going to do it the right way, without cutting workers' pay or dignity. Because in the wealthiest city in this country, buying groceries shouldn't be an unsolvable equation. It should be simple, fair, and within reach for everyone.

Now let's look at CA vs USA avg. You can see why people are moving in addition to housing. "Working class" folks are asked to pay .75 kWh for peak hours 5-9pm in California.
