The U.S. Army just announced Project Janus, a game-changing move to power military bases with micro-nuclear reactors by 2028. Each reactor will generate <20 MW, enough to run critical base ops independently from the civilian grid. The first phase includes 2 reactors at up to 9 installations. Reactors will be commercially owned & operated, but fueled and regulated with oversight from the Army & Dept. of Energy. This initiative follows Executive Order 14299, requiring at least one reactor on a U.S. base by Sept 2028. As threats to the grid grow, the Army is using nuclear power to insure energy resilience. The future of military energy just got a lot hotter, and for companies like us at @hadron_energy, building 10 MWe Micro Modular Reactors, there’s never been a better time to be in this space.
