Yep...your chance to ride in a Durham Fire Engine is back and its DOWNTOWN this time! The @durhamcityfire 5th Annual Toys & Books for Rides Event is this Sunday 12-4. It's simple: Unwrapped toy or book=ride in a fire truck. And food trucks, music, games, and other DFD fun!

2025 Thanksgiving Pie Run complete! Here are the stats: -19 stops (including the 911 Center) -20 pies -78 miles -6 hours -1/2 gal of tea -and maybe 1 @WaffleHouse stop 1 really good day saying "thanks" to the men and women of the DFD for their service to the Bull City.

Honored to give David Swain his Deputy Fire Chief shield in a ceremony today at Fire Station 1. The ceremony details the history of the fire helmet and the frontpiece/shield. Chief Swain oversees the Operations & Training Divisions of Bull City's Bravest. Congrats Chief!

Proud to award my fellow @penn_state alum, Jeff Howard, his Gold frontpiece for his promotion to Battalion Chief in the #BullCity! Nice to have another #NittanyLion in the @durhamfire leadership. Congrats Chief! #WeAre!

NEW @durhamcityfire Rescue Company 1 (R1) went in service just a few minutes ago! Great news for our City, our Department, and the brave officers and members of R1. This unit is far more capable than our current one and will provide much better service to those in danger.

We are having 4 Housing Ceremonies on 3 different days. Confusing? Don't worry, we have an easy way to remember them: Engine 8 ceremony will be on March 8 (8 on 8!) Engine 2 and Ladder 2 will be on March 22 (2 and 2 on 22!) And Engine 12 will be on the...uhm...15th.
