This afternoon, I met the NRM Parliamentary Caucus at State House, Entebbe, and guided them on the FY 2026/2027 budget priorities and the importance of the Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2025. We agreed to prioritize peace and security, roads, electricity, the railway, scientific innovation, preparations for AFCON 2027, restocking in Teso, Lango and Acholi, and salary enhancement for teachers, TVET staff and security personnel to support Uganda’s socio-economic transformation and safeguard our national interests.

As the April 8, 2026, deadline for removing dilapidated taxis from Kampala roads draw closer, Ugandans have largely welcomed the Government’s directive, though many are calling for complementary measures to ensure its effectiveness. #OpenGovUg

Abanyarukungiri, Nibuhooro Nibuhoorogye. Thank you for the warm welcome. When you are asked why you support the NRM, tell them it is a tested force that has walked Uganda through every challenge and delivered stability. Communities in Kanungu and Kihihi know what it means to live without peace. Being near the Congo border, they experienced insecurity firsthand. NRM restored peace, and peace is the foundation on which we are building Uganda’s future. On Irrigation, I am happy the Bakiga have shown determination. I am also going to ensure that we bring irrigation to lift water up the hills so farmers can produce all year round and defeat poverty permanently.

I now require all our forces to concentrate on Kampala, our capital city. To organise it without fail!
