@jamieoliver Dyslexia font wished I had it in high school and colour sheet for reading. Love audio books. Prefer to get the answer wrong so I can work backwards. I’m a tactile person, love learning, observing & listening.

It’s Dyslexia Awareness Week, and this year’s theme is ‘What’s Your Story?’, so I wanted to give you a little bit of an insight into how I overcome my own struggles on a daily basis. It’s all about finding your own path, your own way of solving a problem. 📚Reading and writing have always been a challenge for me, but they’re a massive part of what I do. I actually dictated my first cookbook 25 years ago, and that’s also how Billy and the Giant Adventure was born – me recording stories that then got transcribed for me to edit from. I now work with some brilliant editors, people who understand how my brain works and are great at helping me get things down on paper. 📚With the Billy books, I’ll work in a room with pictures and Post-It notes all over the wall to help me see the story come to life, and with recipes I’m there in the kitchen cooking, while my editor captures the words. I think it’s about finding someone you can pair up with who is good at the thing you’re not, and seeing if you can swap talents. I like to say ‘Always forward, never straight’, to remind me that as long as you're progressing, it doesn’t matter how you’re doing it. So what’s your way?
