@PersonthePerso2 Is it really a Surf Dracula if that's how it went in the games? His name IS Robotnik, Eggman was an insulting nickname Sonic called him that he decided to claim as an alias over an insult. Sure, that was a retcon Japan made to get America to start calling him Eggman, but still.

I think the most difficult part of redesigning Doc Ock is figuring out how you want the arms to look Like do you go spindly or chunky? Cylindrical or something more geometric? Pointy claws or something more stubby? They come out the front? The back? His sides?

@supirorguy @WooperEnjoyer54 I'm referring to before Ian Flynn began writing from issue 160 to the series' cancelation, which Flynn himself refers to as a different continuity. Pre-Flynn Sonic can’t use Chaos Control, but he’s really fast. Post-Flynn Sonic can use Chaos Control, but he’s really slow.

@BurnAlchemist @WooperEnjoyer54 That was still the same Sonic though. He didn’t reboot himself. He hardly even rebooted his friends or history. Only Shadow got nuked. If anything his later continuous uses of the Genesis wave ability speak to how ridiculous things got.

@pjma01 @grave109 The time travel process can only transport living tissue, materials covered in it, or material that can mimic it. T-800s are cyborgs covered in synthetic living tissue. And the tech is limited and can only send back smaller units.

There are conventions that appeal to a wide audience, but that doesn't make them 'objectively' the best, especially when several widely loved stories intentionally break those conventions.

You can enjoy whatever you want privately and don't need to justify it. But if you're going to talk about something publicly and try to convince others that it's good, you do actually need to acknowledge objectivity exists and base your arguments on facts and clearly defined standards so people know where you're coming from and can evaluate what you're saying. If you DON'T care about having conversations about art, then you don't need to do this. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging that you can't argue for a work's quality, yet for whatever reason you still love and enjoy that work even with all its technical failings. Art is both sentimental and technical. You don't need to engage in both sides of it, but don't go around pretending one side is actually the other side. In other words, don't present your subjective opinions and tastes as objective facts, or vice versa. That's the REAL loser mentality.
