Tonight our Council administration will be setting a balanced budget. This will be the first time in 15 years under a labour government, who are supportive of local government and the public sector. We are protecting the most vulnerable, & investing in our borough #burybudget25

It has been confirmed today that the contract to run a second testing centre for taxis and private hire vehicles has been awarded to Sunnybank Service Station in Unsworth. Sunnybank Service Station is a local family run business that has served Bury for decades.

Funding from the council will boost monies already committed by the the government and supporters. There is still a long way to go, but by working together we can make the dreams of football fans in Bury become a reality.

Maybe that’s because it’s this very same Tory minister who is forcing Bury to accept a minimum housing target that puts our green belt at risk based on outdated population figures. 🧐 5/5

🏠 We’d also like to know why our MP didn’t raise the issue of protecting our green belt. It seems to be the Tories’ number one priority but when the minister responsible for planning rolls into town, we don’t hear anything about it. 4/5

🚨DALY FAIL 🚨 🤷‍♀️ Last month he wanted the council to support a bid to the Community Ownership Fund to buy Gigg Lane, now it’s the Levelling Up Fund. It’s clear our MP doesn’t have a plan for Gigg Lane but it makes for some nice political grandstanding at election time. 1/5

BREAKING: Conservative councillors just voted AGAINST Bury Labour’s plan to give families in Bury the Right to Food. Labour councillors believe no one should go hungry. We’re disappointed that Conservative councillors don’t agree. The choice Bury voters face this May is clear.

No child should go hungry in Bury. Our budget commits to free school meals throughout the summer.
