“Skills-based hiring is certainly about understanding and adapting to a mindset that allows organizations to really think about skills being the denominator of talent in their organizations.” Hear more from Papia Debroy of Opportunity@Work: w.day/4dXFt8q #WDAYPodcasts

ADP payroll survey finds that private sector employment increased by 497,000 jobs (!) in June, and annual pay was up 6.4 percent year-over-year. ADP not always a great predictor of BLS payrolls. But we'll see what happens tomorrow...

"We can think two thoughts at once". In fact, we *must* practice thinking 2 thoughts at once, if we hope to repair our relationships, social fabric, and economy. None of us can "know" the experience of all others - but we can care, we can listen, we can learn. cc: @RichardvReeves

"Doing more for boys & men doesn't mean doing any less for women & girls. That’s the kind of zero-sum thinking that is doing so much damage to our politics & to our culture. We can think two thoughts at once. We can do two things at once." My @TEDTalks: youtu.be/fXsOlAYvgh0

I recently spoke with @william_r_kerr on the @HarvardHBS #ManagingTheFutureofWork podcast about why smart companies and 13 states (and counting) are committing to skills-based hiring and tearing the paper ceiling to tap into the STARs talent pool. STARs = the 50% of U.S. workers skilled through alternative routes vs. a bachelor's degree. Without a STARs talent strategy - you have only *half* a talent strategy. #HireSTARs Listen to the podcast (or read the transcript) here: hbs.edu/managing-the-f…
