@MysteryVFXSuper @gogogadgethead2 @ryanhelmetsmith @Jolonco @Rainmakers28 @SarahLongwell25 @BillKristol I’m curious where you got those statistics. Very interesting. Where I’m from, I’ve had to have a background check for every purchase. Even at gun shows
English

@C9rose @gogogadgethead2 @ryanhelmetsmith @Jolonco @Rainmakers28 @SarahLongwell25 @BillKristol Nope. Federal law doesn't require background checks for private gun sales, and only 22 states require that.
25% of sales at gun shows are through private sales and not licensed gun dealers. That's a lot of guns in 28 states changing hands without background checks.
English

@ryanhelmetsmith @Jolonco @Rainmakers28 @SarahLongwell25 @BillKristol I’ll even go a step further, I’m very pro gun. I’m also in the military with a mother who’s a teacher. Do I want schools safe? Absolutely, do I believe raising the age on buying weapons is necessary? I really don’t. I think it boils down to mental health and gun safety advocacy.
English

@ryanhelmetsmith @Jolonco @Rainmakers28 @SarahLongwell25 @BillKristol I’ll respond to this, respectfully, this isn’t the case in most branches or services. I can’t speak for active duty army but for guard/reserves, there is one weekend a year that your qualify. There isn’t a two week turnaround time for training and live fire.
English

@ryanhelmetsmith @Jolonco @Rainmakers28 @SarahLongwell25 @BillKristol Any more training other than that weekend a year. Also, your qualification is good for two years at a time. Granted I truly believe without young soldiers, 18-20 age range, having that outside help with their marksmanship, they would be highly less effective in a combat situation
English

@C9rose @Jolonco @Rainmakers28 @SarahLongwell25 @BillKristol So then going back to my original tweet, it seems extensive was the wrong word choice, but otherwise nothing changes in the argument that the military mandates training and qualification to handle weapons.
English

@ryanhelmetsmith @Jolonco @Rainmakers28 @SarahLongwell25 @BillKristol Agreed. To some extent that is. The national guard, my experience, thrives on people shooting, hunting and practicing outside of those tiny training blocks. An average person does 3 weeks of rifle training in basic and then could easily do 20 years without
English

@placebo_141622 @SarahLongwell25 @UROCKlive1 This already happens. It took 3-4 days for my background checks to come back when I bought my first hunting rifle
English

@SarahLongwell25 @UROCKlive1 What about a waiting period on guns unless the applicant is not a first time gun holder or is supported by others/been a regularly attending member of a gun club?
Could things like these help? Get though Government?
They would not stop a right 2bear arms, merely delay it? 🥲🥲
