The goldfinch’s beautiful song & vibrant colors make it a prime target for poachers. Millions are illegally trapped across the Mediterranean each year for the pet trade. Thankfully, CABS is on the ground exposing traps and helping authorities prosecute poachers.

Racing 40°C heat and combine harvesters near Cologne, CABS and local farmers have saved 22 endangered Marsh & Montagu's Harrier chicks! By marking 16 nests, leaving 20x20m uncut zones, and adding electric fences, they’re keeping these birds of prey safe.

5/5 Prime Minister Meloni is, however, carefully staying within the limits of the EU Birds Directive, leaving Brussels with little room to intervene. Already now, more than 6 million migratory birds are shot in Italy each year, including around 3 million songbirds alone.

4/5 The approval of the Chamber of Deputies, which must cast the final vote, is considered certain due to the governing majority. With this legislative initiative, Italy is reversing course and dismantling all conservation achievements that are not explicitly required by the EU.
