Happy to announce we have received final approval for the Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) project, a 525kV 2GW subsea connection between Scotland and England. With @ofgem's approval on costs, construction will begin later this year, targeting completion by 2029. ⚡️ Jointly delivered by National Grid and @SSETransmission, EGL2 will be the UK’s largest electricity transmission project, powering 2 million homes and supporting the shift to clean energy. 💡 Zac Richardson, Offshore Delivery Director for National Grid, said: “Ofgem’s funding decision is a major milestone for EGL2, the single largest-ever investment in a UK electricity transmission infrastructure project. We now look forward to delivering supply chain contracts, jobs, and skills, and helping to fulfil the government’s ambition for the UK to be a clean energy superpower.” 👉 Find out more: natgrid.com/3e
