Kicking off the #WHRDsConference25 with powerful voices reminding us why Women Human Rights Defenders matter more than ever. In her opening remarks, Ms. Margaret Sekaggya, Executive Director of the Human Rights Centre Uganda, alongside Mr. Hassan Shire, Executive Director of DefendDefenders, emphasized the urgent need to protect and uplift the phenomenal women leading the fight for human rights across communities. We were also honoured to hear from our keynote speaker, @MaryLawlorhrds , the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders, who celebrated the courage and resilience of WHRDs everywhere. “Their efforts remind us that women’s rights are indeed human rights… our strength lies in standing together and protecting one another as we continue the fight for dignity, equality, and justice for all.” As the conference continues, we echo her cal, for the Government and all stakeholders to stand with and support WHRDs, ensuring their work is protected and civic space remains open for every voice to thrive. #WHRDsConference25

Sanjay Puri, Founder of Knowledge Products Group, notes that African innovation must inform global digital frameworks, not merely adapt to them. He added that the spirit of #Ubuntu offers a model for #AI #governance, reminding us that #technology should serve humanity, not the other way around. 📍Virtual High-Level Dialogue on African Civil Society Perspectives on the #G20 Summit #Agenda2063 #SustainableDevelopment #CimateAction #Economy #Governance #Democracy #Solidarity #Equality #SouthAfrica 🇿🇦

The year 2025 will be remembered as the year global aid slowed, with USAID, MCC, and other major donors closing or freezing support. We can’t hit reset; we must adapt,” shared our Executive Director, Dr. Moses Isooba, during the National Dissemination Workshop reminded us that Uganda’s health system needs to move from dependency to sustainability by mobilizing more domestic resources, improving efficiency, and strengthening collaboration across government, civil society, and the private sector. At NGO Forum, we believe this is the moment to work together and build a stronger, self-reliant health financing base that protects access and quality care for every Ugandan. #HealthFinancingUG

Where I come from is the most bastardised place in Uganda. Fort Portal is called Port Fortal, Port Portal, Fort Portural, Forpolio, etc @wakaija @CleverMwebaze and @qataharraymond how do we deal with this intentional erasure of the most beautiful city in Uganda?
