Queen Mary II coronation ring In fact, it was a gift from her husband King William III many years before the two were proclaimed King and Queen Made about 1677, the ring is currently in the care of the Harley Museum in Worksop It looks brand new.

Ok, having sorted out the tube strike in London this morning, I did promise to sort out the problem with the Strait of Hormuz and here is my plan, which is genius in its simplicity. I’ve costed it out and it’s a bargain. Screwfix sell these hoses which you can join together. I’ve drawn a red line on the map showing where the hose can be laid. They reel out really easily, so are quick to deploy. The oil can then be pumped from one side of the land to the other, thus eliminating the need to sail down the Strait of Hormuz. Safe, cheap, quick and simple. I shall now sit back, enjoy the sunshine and await an award for this.

@A1an_M Yes! Bugger fears sbout things dying. It happens - rabbits etc) Mum's fluorescence is suggesting (as she was a keen gardener) that you shed the inhibitions. Plant like mad for those you've lost/love & your garden becomes a chat with loved-ones.💚 As you/she say/s, crack on!

I've always been a bit reluctant to plant trees or shrubs in memory of people for fear the planted thing will also die. But in this case,I decided to crack on anyway. My mother died about 5 years ago and as she was a keen gardener I planted this apple tree in her memory. It's in year 3 now and looks like we're in for a nice crop of Discovery apples. 👍🍎 Nothing tastes quite as apple-y as a home-grown apple. RIP Mum!

Apricot-coloured flowering quince - lopped off as it ought to be the white. Suspect it was a spur from below the graft. But a very welcome addition indoors as it opens.

Today is the feast of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary, 'Lady Day'. In England it was once the spring quarter-day, when contracts would begin and servants took new jobs, and until 1752 it was also the start of the New Year. A day for new beginnings, new life of many kinds.

Celebrating the birthday of William Morris, born on this day in 1834. He played a central role in the Arts and Crafts Movement, championing the value of handmade craftsmanship at a time when the Victorian era was defined by industrial progress.

Sorry about the wonkiness… I came across this beautiful poem about #ImogenHolst in a collection by Edward Lowbury inspired by visits to Aldeburgh Festival. He was such a talented poet as well as a very eminent pathologist and bacteriologist. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Lo…

@CBeale1 Thanks Catherine.x Trashed a disc in fall 4 weeks ago so currently mostly resting in recliner to take pressure off back. Lucky it wasn't worse, but can't sit at PC for long to tweet and can't go outside at all! Feel like a caged animal! Only time I wished I had a smart phone!☹️

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus #HappyStDavidsDay - first day of #Spring! Here's #wild daffodil Narcissus Lobularis, brought from my ancestral home in Wales years ago, blooming in my #Irish hazel coppice last year. Pining to see its beauty, as sadly STILL hors de combat with trashed disc!😢

Bought a pair of chairs for the back porch. I first thought about it twenty odd years ago. They’re Ratan style, stretched across metal frames, hopefully they’ll not blow away. Maybe I’ll put a big bolder on them in rough weather.

This is the view from the porch of lovely St Martin’s. Have had a few hours sobbing as it’s a year since my mother hasn’t existed any more, and London is all memories of her. But as usual it has the power to lift one’s spirits with its chutzpah…off to ⁦@dukeofyorksLDN⁩ 🙋‍♀️
