@fireshoes @SaffronOlive Not having played the (player list event’s) format doesn’t surprise me, I would assume the employee filling out the day’s list is only making one event for all the casual play without taking the time to split it up by format.
But if they weren’t there, yeah, that’s pretty bad.

@CBotelhoMagic @SaffronOlive If you translate the quoted post, it is someone who was signed up for numerous Commander events that has never played the format, as well as people in the replies that have not even visited the store before.

Lol, they released event history on the companion app and now players are finding they've been signed up for events without their knowledge by stores to inflate their numbers? There have been rumors about this for a while, but this seems like confirmation if I'm understanding it correctly.

By phrasing it as “selling” you’re implying you can shop around; and we have infinity evidence market price for gambling is above EV.

@tommartell OK I see, but you are not answering the question at hand at all. You do what some respondents do - answer how do you milk max amount of value from your ticket.
Question in where is your internal breaking point for taking the gamble yourself rather than selling it

I posted long explanation with my math on FB (last person on earth writing there), but I will try to go with TLDR.
EV of the ticket is 1 mill, but high variance - let's lower variance with lower EV. Your personal utility curve and mix of current/future net worth are important.

Rnd 6 vs UG Cub
Won game 1 with boardwipes, but lost postboard games to sab sunen and triple spider sense. Got to see my op win a mull to 4 though, which was cool.
1-5 and out. Bummer weekend to run bad, think this was one of the most well positioned tourneys I’ve played. Alas.

Excited to be playing the PT this weekend. After much soul searching I think I’ve corrected my mistakes from Worlds and I’m happy to announce I will be playing double the amount of cursed recordings.

@Mengu09 @jakeformayor I mean, I *do* go to museums the first time I go to a city for PT travel, and Richmond had some pretty nice ones? Sure, there's probably only a day's worth of them compared to somewhere like Atlanta that could fill three. But it's not so few as to complain about.

@jakeformayor Not every PT player has a Professional team and does testing house (maybe barely 50%?), and yes you definitely don't do museums in United States but I remember visiting cool places back in the days during ProTours.

I cannot with the complaining about Richmond. You never leave the testing house (which is 50% less than Chicago) and your doordash dino nuggets cost nothing. Stop pretending you go to museums or the clurb or Michelin start restaurants you little babies. Richmond is fine.

@gerundive_ I'd consider it a problematic aspect of the card, but not enough to make it a problem.
Most card design choices are tradeoffs between ways they cause problems and ways they create "fun". It's fine for them to be a little problematic if the payoff is worth it.

It’s interesting to me how a lot of people read this post as being about card balance, rather than card design.
I think the difference between those two topics is pretty important to distinguish, because they’re almost non-overlapping. But I’m not sure how best to do it.

So, starting town’s got a pretty weird design element in making you track the first three turns of the game we’ve played with for a while now. Is it fair to call this a design failure compared to fastlands? Seems like added likelihood for GRV errors with no added gameplay value.

@NoGreatImport It's the first (paper) land that tracks the turns of the game, because prior to it every land accomplished the same thing in practice by using the fastland wording.
If the wording does the same thing in game while creating more out of game errors, that's a design failure.

@CBotelhoMagic I mentioned the design space specifically. It isn't the first time the used tracking the first 3 turns for design. However, the design space does lead directly into balance.
