@OptimusTomTV Yeah, I live in the Portland outskirts and it’s pretty good for affordable quality sushi. But you gotta imagine there’s still the big city price bump being applied. Makes me wonder what places have small town prices but big fish output.

@CBotelhoMagic Japan has gotta be pretty high with the conversion rate if you lock a remote or US contract job Otherwise...New Jersey? Fort Lee area is pretty solid but you gotta live further for it to be more affordable. I'd assume a lot of Port/Coastal states qualify

@SaffronOlive I think a build of wilderness reclamation existed in each of those metas that would have been significantly better than the decks that got banned. But we hadn’t found them yet. Though, we did find it before Fires got banned, it was just still under-the-radar at that point.

@CBotelhoMagic Do you think it was the best deck pre-bannings?

Y’know, it’s interesting how rarely (never) we hear in regards to problematic metagames: “we expected the player base to do a better job finding decks that beat the top decks, because we found them in internal testing”. Wonder how often it happens but goes unsaid.

@SaffronOlive We spent months with field of the dead, then Oko, then fires of invention being the boogiemen of the format. Each eating bans one after the other. And the entire time Wilderness Reclamation was the best deck by a *lot*. But nobody had figured out how to build it yet.

@SaffronOlive On average? Yeah, I’d mostly agree. But the string of standard metagames from 2019 to late 2020 live rent free in my head forever as a visceral example of the community of millions failing to explore metagames well. In retrospect those formats (and bans) are hilarious.

@fireshoes @SaffronOlive Not having played the (player list event’s) format doesn’t surprise me, I would assume the employee filling out the day’s list is only making one event for all the casual play without taking the time to split it up by format. But if they weren’t there, yeah, that’s pretty bad.

@CBotelhoMagic @SaffronOlive If you translate the quoted post, it is someone who was signed up for numerous Commander events that has never played the format, as well as people in the replies that have not even visited the store before.

Lol, they released event history on the companion app and now players are finding they've been signed up for events without their knowledge by stores to inflate their numbers? There have been rumors about this for a while, but this seems like confirmation if I'm understanding it correctly.

By phrasing it as “selling” you’re implying you can shop around; and we have infinity evidence market price for gambling is above EV.

@tommartell OK I see, but you are not answering the question at hand at all. You do what some respondents do - answer how do you milk max amount of value from your ticket. Question in where is your internal breaking point for taking the gamble yourself rather than selling it

I posted long explanation with my math on FB (last person on earth writing there), but I will try to go with TLDR. EV of the ticket is 1 mill, but high variance - let's lower variance with lower EV. Your personal utility curve and mix of current/future net worth are important.
