Spot on! This is the reason why I am not at all upset that I did not qualify for Amsterdam. Now if you also want to give yourself the best chance to win and do a testing house with a group of friends😱 If we did not have support from companies like Moxfield it would be impossible

Pro Tour prizing is increasingly lagging behind the cost to attend. Ken is spending $2400 for flight and hotel. He's have to finish in the Top 28 to cover that (based on the prize structure for Las Vegas). #mtg

Can you get it in any better than this in Holdem? AA vs A6 and covering one of the suits?

@orrdavid This analogy fails completely. You win more when there's more losing players, as their losses have to go somewhere. You generally have more ev playing more hands (sometimes much more hands) when they play looser, as you can valuebet wider vs a much wider range.

This poker comparison works another way, too. Take a 10 handed poker table. If your table is yourself, 8 other equally skilled players and a single bad player, you wind up playing a bit more than 10% of hands*. This is because against the other skilled players, you want to play 10% of hands. And against the sucker you want to play a bit more than that on average. However, say you instead have a table that is yourself plus 9 wild crazy players. This is what the stock market really is. You wind up playing well less than 10% of hands because the outcome for each hand is very far out of your control. You're not going to bluff anyone anymore, for example, you just need to show up with a strong hand at the showdown every time. Even though the second game plays downright insane, the edge is higher than the first game. And you do well by avoiding the madness. Markets are a lot like this. I can't put into words here how this is useful immediately, but it's worth stewing on. * I ignore rake (house edge) implications since is the rake is immaterial markets for long term investors.
David Orr@orrdavid

@SowingAlphaSeed The market is so wildly inefficient and almost everyone involved is clueless. Unlike other games, investing is something that everyone with money is forced to play. There's no escape. It's like playing poker on a gigantic table against all the world's richest people.

Suddenly standing alone in the room, I begin by imagining humanity banding together and blue winning in a landslide, and I feel a rush of pride. Red is the genocide button. Blue is the “save humanity from this nightmare” button. I know what kind of person I am. As my hand hovers over the blue button, I can’t help but imagine a gun pointing at my head with a bullet in one of the chambers. I feel a surge of fear shoot through my body. Then I think about all the other people staring at the blue button and thinking the same thing. Surely some of those who initially decided to press blue will succumb to the fear. It starts to feel like a gun with two loaded chambers. A stronger pulse of terror. The more I think about it, the more I worry about other people thinking about it. My heart races. Then I look at the red button—a gun with no bullets in it. A glorious feeling of relief washes over me. Will I hate myself forever if blue wins because enough others were better and braver than me? But don’t I owe it to my family to protect myself? One vote won’t change anything anyway, right? It’s all irrelevant because the mammal I live in has already made up its mind. I wince and press red.
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@TheZvi I felt that jump mainly from 9 -> 10. I cruised through all the ascensions and got pretty brick wallet on some 10s. I though I have almost "won" with 49/50 ascensions done but right now I am like 0/15 with Regent

Maybe it's randomness but I'm finding the Slay the Spire II jump from Ascension 8 -> 9 absolutely brutal. I went from winning more often than not to dying in Act 1 even when things seem to be going well.

@Smdster @painterzservant Just to balance out the audience, I feel like jumping of the bridge where there is a SECOND tie after 6 actions of rolling the dice, when one roll could have been 100 % sufficient

@painterzservant Counterpoint: 1. Rolling dice is fun, tying on a die roll is also fun. I’ve never seen someone tie twice in a row and not have a little laugh about it. 2. High roll is much more readily recognized/agreed on amongst non-English speakers.

Odd/Evens is the same with 1 or 2 dice. Highroll is fine but wastes time ?% of the time. Calling a judge because you can't choose a randomized way of choosing who goes first is cringe. We're (mostly) all adults here guys can we please just play magic.
