It’s already lost it. Any government organization that chooses self over mandate should not be able to continue without major accountability and correction. It wasn’t created to preserve the senate. It was created to preserve, protect, and defend the USA and its constitution, against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Its actions indicate only that the senate has made itself a principle part of the enemies fighting against the constitutional republic. It has earned the scorn of the people, and more.

Voters elected a Republican Senate to do a job, and all they've done is hide behind procedural headwinds to justify not doing that job. The desire to protect the "institution of the Senate" is causing the Senate to lose its credibility.
