@mac_wenger @CoachDoty @ItsLaranotLaura More apps mean more rejections more rejections means lower admissions rate which increases the perceived "selectivity" of the school-which most consider a proxy for academic reputation. It is an admissions arms race. Everybody wants to go to the club they can't get into.

@GoodmanHoops I’m all for making the NCAA look bad, but these anecdotes that make it seem like Holy Cross, where tuition is $60,000 and the endowment is over A BILLION dollars, are sisters of the poor high school? They can cover a couple charted busses for the day.

Holy Cross women’s basketball team dealing with similar situation as Charleston men except it can’t afford to charter. 393 miles from College Park so NCAA won’t pay. Snowstorm coming to Boston so can’t find commercial flights for entire team. May have to BUS or do Amtrak.

NCAA increased it from 350 to 400 miles in which it will pay for a school to charter flight to site. Charleston is 380 miles from Orlando, so NCAA will only cover cost of a bus. Told Charleston is going to pay for charter on its own on way down for team and families and bus back.
