For years the Scottish Government has failed to implement vital reforms for our inshore fisheries. Now is a chance to have your say! Government is asking what is working in their management of inshore fisheries, and what is not. Respond to the consultation to ensure governance is fair and reflects the public interest here > consult.gov.scot/marine-scotlan… Via @STVNews

Wrasse are a keystone species in Scottish inshore waters, and maintain healthy ecosystems in a variety of marine habitats. However, a lack of fishing controls is severely depleting their population numbers, which can have severe knock-on effects for marine ecosystems.

Deep sea mining plans blocked in Norway 🇳🇴🚫 Environmental groups described the news as a “historic win” for ocean protection. Oslo had planned to let companies apply to mine 280,000 sq km (108,000 sq miles) of its waters, an area greater than the UK, for deep-sea minerals.

Lots of empty native #oyster shells in front of #Ullapool golf course, evidence of the lost populations that we are restoring in Loch Broom. Oysters were once abundant here, they would have had a huge impact on coastal water quality. We need to restore at scale #Seawilding
