It’s completely incomprehensible that one of the most destructive ways of fishing is permitted in Marine Protected Areas. What exactly are these areas protected from? Please contact @SteveReedMP to urge action on this crucial issue to protect & restore our seas. @OceanaUK

🌊 This is the reality behind ‘protected’ UK seas Industrial bottom trawling bulldozing the seafloor & killing ocean wildlife We can’t protect nature while leaving it open to such destruction 🚫 ✊ Act now: bit.ly/oceanaukx 📢 Ban #BottomTrawling in MPAs

Andy Burnham needs to deliver public OWNERSHIP of the essentials 💧💡🚌🚄📮🏥 "Public control" won't do - it essentially just means more regulation With natural monopolies, we don’t have choice as consumers, so we need accountability as citizens theguardian.com/politics/2026/…

💔 Devastating numbers of whales, porpoises, seals, dolphins and seabirds are dying every year in British waters, according to a new report showing the true scale of bycatch in the UK. Our ocean deserves so, so much better. We need govt action! oceanographicmagazine.com/news/devastati…

🌊 The race to protect 30% of our seas by 2030 is CRITICAL to a healthy planet & future. But it is utterly meaningless if those areas deemed to be 'protected', actually allow destructive activities, like bottom trawling, to take place within their boundaries. theconversation.com/the-world-agre…

"The ocean is part of everyday life - what’s in it, what’s taken from it, and how healthy it is all feeds back into communities on land. Even if you never see it, you’re still relying on it in some way.” We interviewed freediver, Kayleigh, on all things ocean. Read more! bit.ly/3SSjYRe

#BREAKING: President Trump signed a proclamation to allow commercial fishing in three marine national monuments in the Pacific Ocean, home to wildlife found nowhere else on the planet. This puts some of our most irreplaceable ocean ecosystems at risk for short-term gain.

🌊 Happy #WorldOceanDay to everyone except the UK Govt A year has rolled around, and we’ve yet to hear even a whisper of when the govt is going to properly protect our ocean havens from bottom trawling, after pledging to consider it LAST World Ocean Day. What's going on?! 😡 1/2

The problem with privatised water 💧 Around 90% of the world’s water is publicly owned - but England and Wales still run on a failed privatised system. For too long, water companies have been aloud to extract cash from a public necessity, all while putting profits before people and public health. The result? Polluted waterways, high bills and a system that isn’t working. It’s time to end this failed experiment and bring England’s water back into public hands. #publicownership #water #privatisation #sewage

David Attenborough has spent years sounding the alarm on factory trawling, and he’s right: bottom trawling is one of the most destructive practices in our oceans. Alaska needs leaders willing to stand up to the trawling lobby and protect our fisheries before it’s too late.

Really good news. Over the last 15 years the world gained more mangroves than it has lost, thanks to stronger legal protections following the 2004 tsunami which proved their importance in protecting coasts. Also vital for fish and in absorbing carbon. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

We need to hold the government to its promise: no new oil and gas in UK seas! 🛑 Big Oil is pushing for more drilling, but it causes toxic spills and harms marine life—all without lowering our bills. Let's protect our ocean. Sign the petition: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/stop… @38degrees

BREAKING NEWS: FREE THE 15....... THE 15 HAVE BEEN FREED Steph Spyro @StephSpyro and the @Daily_Express have saved the penguins which are currently being held captive in the basement of the London Aquarium. 👏👏👏 Huge, huge, huge achievement. Hip hip hooray. A brilliant, brilliant example of nothing more than having a clear vision, a strategic objective coupled with the guts, the ambition and determination to deliver it. Huge round of applause. Mighty I suggest that others, especially those within the eNGO charity sector will want to take note. express.co.uk/news/uk/221092…
