One of the ex-Louisville Metro PD officers involved in the fatal 2020 shooting of Breonna Taylor has taken a new job with a different law enforcement unit elsewhere in Kentucky. Myles Cosgrove has been hired by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, barely 2 years after he was fired by LMPD 'for violating use-of-force procedures and failing to use a body camera during the raid on Taylor’s apartment,' per the AP. Though several officers were involved in the March 13, 2020, raid on the apartment of Taylor’s then-boyfriend Kenneth Walker, Cosgrove was identified as the specific officer responsible for shooting Taylor. Cosgrove fired his weapon 16 times in total during the incident. Cosgrove has not been criminally charged with any crimes related to Taylor’s death, and last year, the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council voted against revoking Cosgrove’s Peace Officer’s Standards and Training certification, allowing him the ability to continue applying for new law enforcement positions in the future.
