#Cyber threat actors are using sophisticated, cyber-enabled tactics to impersonate legitimate businesses to hijack freight, steal high-value shipments, and reroute deliveries, resulting in a surge in strategic cargo theft. The threat actors target US transportation and logistics sectors, gaining unauthorized access to computer systems via spoofed emails, fake URLs, and compromised carrier accounts. In 2025, estimated cargo theft losses in the US and Canada surged to nearly $725 million, a 60% increase from 2024.

#OTD 90 years ago, former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover personally arrested notorious gangster Alvin Karpis, aka "Public Enemy Number One." Karpis led a life of crime, but as the brains of the Barker/Karpis Gang, he remained elusive to law enforcement until April 1936, when word came that "Old Creepy" was in New Orleans. Hoover flew overnight to join the raid team, and they sketched out an arrest plan on a chalkboard. Once in custody, Hoover escorted Karpis to Minnesota to face kidnapping charges.
