The “Dissemination of Best Practices in Pig Artificial Insemination” workshop is commencing shortly at the Makerere University Agricultural Research Institute, Kabanyolo. The program will run from 2nd to 6th December 2025.

Across Africa, food security conditions remain under pressure despite seasonal harvests offering some relief in parts of the continent. The September 2025 Food Security Monitor highlights both progress and persistent challenges in regional markets. In East Africa, improved maize supplies led to a 17% price drop in Uganda, even as rice and bean prices rose. However, Southern Africa saw renewed volatility, with Mozambique’s maize prices surging by over 32.5%, even as fertiliser costs in Malawi doubled year-on-year, posing risks to affordability and production. Meanwhile, West Africa's markets were mixed - maize prices fell in Ghana but climbed sharply in Nigeria (+7.34%) and Togo (+24%). The need for action is urgent: 30.6 million people in Nigeria alone are in crisis or worse.
