🇸🇰 @KOZSlovakRep played a key role in organizing an important training in cooperation with @ETUI_org, bringing together experts and trade union leaders to strengthen collective bargaining in the context of the EU Minimum Wage Directive. 🗺️Trade union representatives from across the EU and candidate countries gathered to discuss the transposition of the directive and its impact on labor markets. Participants exchanged insights on collective agreement coverage, legislative challenges, and best practices. Experts from @etuc_ces provided valuable analyses and tools to navigate the complexities of minimum wage policies and collective bargaining frameworks. 🇪🇺The discussions highlighted the diverse realities across #Europe—from Austria’s nearly universal collective agreement coverage to the challenges faced in countries with low union density. Key takeaways included the need for stronger legal protections, strategies to enhance worker organization, and the importance of cross-border cooperation to ensure fair wages and social protection for all workers. ✅The training reaffirmed that the effective implementation of the directive must go hand in hand with concrete measures to strengthen collective bargaining, ensuring real progress in workers' rights. The exchange of knowledge and experiences during these days was invaluable, and I look forward to seeing these discussions translate into action.

🇸🇪 I am currently on a work visit to #Stockholm, as part of the Central European Trade Union Network (@CETUN_EU). This experience has been incredibly valuable, as we are learning from the strong and effective Nordic trade union model. With more than 70-85% of workers and 90% of employers organized, countries like #Sweden have developed a stable labor environment that balances the interests of both workers and employers. 📙One key takeaway for Slovakia is the potential for creating similarly robust systems of collective bargaining and social dialogue. As we see in the Nordic countries, such cooperation leads to better working conditions, higher wages, and less reliance on political interference to improve labor laws. 📙 Looking forward to using these insights to strengthen our unions at home and improve the quality of work for all Slovak employees. 🇸🇪 I’m pleased to join @MonikaUhlerova in #Stockholm for a significant exchange of experiences between the Central European Trade Union Network @CETUN_EU and the Council of Nordic Trade Unions (@nordenfacket). This visit has been highly insightful as we explore the strong and efficient Nordic trade union model, where 70-85% of employees and 90% of employers are organized, creating a stable labor environment that balances the needs of both workers and employers. 🏎️One of the key discussions has been the ongoing case between Tesla and the @ifmetall Union in #Sweden. Tesla’s resistance to union recognition underscores the ongoing struggle for fair labor conditions, with IF Metall representing over 300,000 workers, including those at Tesla, in this fight. ⚠️This case serves as a powerful reminder of the vital role unions play in ensuring workers' rights are respected across industries. The high level of organization among workers and employers in the Nordic model demonstrates how collaborative efforts can lead to improved working conditions and a more stable labor environment for all.

🇪🇺 I participated in the @etuc_ces Executive Committee meeting in #Brussels, addressing key issues like labor rights, social dialogue, and #EU legislation. We discussed concerns about the new European Commission’s lack of a dedicated Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights, stressing the need to prioritize these issues to protect millions of workers. 🇸🇰 I fully supported the ETUC's push for stronger protections against workplace stress and burnout, as well as the EU Minimum Wage Directive, which is essential for ensuring fair wages, especially for low-income workers in Slovakia. 🍲During a working lunch of @CETUN_EU with EU Commissioner @NicolasSchmitEU, we discussed ongoing efforts to improve working conditions and wages across Europe, while also expressing our gratitude for his excellent cooperation and commitment to building a more social Europe. ⚠️Strengthening social dialogue remains a top priority to secure fair conditions for all workers.

💬 I had the honor of opening the @ETUI_org - @etuc_ces conference "A European Job Guarantee," which took place on Monday, 7 October 2024, at @EU_ELA in #Bratislava, where I addressed some concerning trends in Slovakia’s labor environment. According to data from @eurofound in a year-on-year comparison, the quality of the employment environment in #Slovakia has not improved. 🇸🇰 Slovakia ranks the worst in the #EU in terms of the proportion of high-stress jobs. Slovak workers are excessively burdened at work, which not only increases the risk of deteriorating health but also negatively impacts overall well-being. Unfortunately, we also hold several unfavorable records in Europe, including being among the leaders in shift work and having the highest proportion of workers working night shifts. Symbolically held on the World Day for Decent Work, the conference centered on the proposed European Job Guarantee. This crucial initiative aims to combat unemployment and drive social progress by creating high-quality, sustainable jobs across various sectors, engaging both public and private employers. A strong emphasis was placed on upholding fair labor practices and promoting social responsibility. 💥The event also provided valuable insights from previous employment programs in various EU Member States, offering critical perspectives to shape the design and implementation of the European Job Guarantee. It’s time to prioritize quality jobs and combat precariousness across Europe! 🙏Special thanks to @TeaJarc, @CosminBoiangiu and @BartVanhercke and all participants.
