Peer review #1 complete on #MatrixGameControl Yes. It is the single most dominate metric for determining winning a FBS football game. Turnover margin is relegated to a distant 2nd. Complimentary football coaching is changing and so is viewing of games by fans.

@CFBAnalytical Interesting. Do you have data for games that have gone Score>Stop>Halftime>Stop>Score? Probably more rare with your constraint of 7 point games

In case youre wondering about playing for back to back possessions In 6674 fbs games, it occurred 3340 times vs 3334 not happening. 50.1% with 24.8% back to back scores of any kind.

@benbuckhoff We feel many coaches focus on it to the detriment of the other 52 minutes. Its a piece of the puzzle but game control over 60 minutes is the most powerful metric of the last 15 years

@CFBAnalytical This is great data, the back to back possessions were the only thing that was still making me think there may be some truth to the Middle 8 hype. If it’s a coin flip though on if you actually get the back to back possessions, then yeah it’s tough to argue in favor of the Middle 8
