The NCAA has made slight changes to the punishment for targeting. This fall, a player disqualified for targeting for the FIRST time during the season, regardless of which half of the game it occurs, may participate in the next game. Any player disqualified for targeting a SECOND time during the season will be required to miss the first half of the next game. If a player is disqualified for a THIRD targeting penalty during the season, the player will be required to miss the entire next game (no players were disqualified for targeting three times in the 2025 season).

Missouri has named Austin Simmons as their starting quarterback heading into the 2026 season 🐯 Simmons transferred in from Ole Miss, where he started early last season before suffering an injury and Trinidad Chambliss took over the QB1 role. Simmons accounted for 1,111 total yards, 6 total TDs, and 5 INTs in his limited playing time with the Rebels the past two years.

Louisiana Tech has been included in both the Sun Belt’s conference scheduling & C-USA’s conference scheduling for the 2026 season. LA Tech announced that would be leaving Conference USA for the Sun Belt in July of last year, but due to the school and C-USA not being able to agree on a departure date/exit fee, they were still included on C-USA schedules. As of now, they are scheduled to play 20 games this fall. 😭
