They were a victim of teams like 8-4 Pitt being 40th in the FPI, while Alabama beats 4-8 South Carolina who fortunately started the season high and after losing 8 GAMES was 34th in the FPI.
An 8-win team, who was ranked when ND beat them, contributed less to their SOS than 4-8 South Carolina did for Alabama’s.
Then the committee sees “oh wow, look at the SOS disparity on this ESPN graphic.” Rigged.

@mizfootballfan @ShowMeZou I’m sure it was a monthly rating update too last year when a recruit chose Miami over Georgia and dropped from #3 overall to #10 overall the next day.
Top 4 recruit for over a year. Commits to the ACC over the SEC, nearly drops outside the Top 10 the next day.

Jackson Cantwell was ranked a Top 4 player in the Top247 for over a year. He announced his commitment to Miami over Georgia on May 13th. On May 14th his ranking dropped from 3rd overall to 10th overall. Interesting. 🤨

That’s why I don’t like seeing 80% of the sport get screwed over for a conference that can’t reach the national title game anymore, just had the worst bowl record of anyone, and has had a losing record to the ACC in the two of the last three years.

“FOUR STRAIGHT RANKED WINS!” is literally what got them into the CFP last year, and then Missouri and Tennessee both finished unranked with zero wins over bowl eligible teams.
Gotta get handed those ranked wins in August to beef up the résumé. 😂

Just so we're clear ... that's a correction due to @Rivals putting Gunner Rivers as a 3-star prospect. Rivers is a Top-50 player and the No. 6 QB in the @247Sports rankings.
