Okay so the SEC has decided internally to break away (imo)
On3@On3

NEW: SEC commissioner Greg Sankey tells @Clowfb college athletics are in the middle of 'historic change' that will be 'messy' and 'uncomfortable'👀 "We're in the middle of historic change, and it's going to be messy. It's going to be uncomfortable. It's never going to be the way that it was, but doesn't have to be the way that it is." Story: on3.com/news/sec-commi…

Im not saying schools arent looking or talking We can do this all day Im just saying its not feasible logically or financially now
CFB+@CFBN_Plus

@Big12BurnerKU More money in big brand conference only. More power in big brand conferences. Anyone in ACC and XII would leave in heart beat for B1G or SEC if they had invite. Most definitely would leave for consolidated power league.

@Big12BurnerKU Okay sure, however I am confident schools would pay that buyout in a heartbeat in this scenario. We are talking about a total breakaway with just the big brands. It would be disastrous to pass up the opportunity.

Not if they have to pay extra for #Buyout money Remember If a schools #TVInventory is tied in the #GrantOfRights Their profit essentially becomes $0

In english The schools with no #Brands Are the ones who have to pay expensive coin For #ND #FSU #Clem #miami But its not beneficial Because they force those schools out Its voting for their own #Relegation

@Big12BurnerKU Let me rephrase, what you are saying is incoherent and totally random and unrelated in regard to what I am saying. At least to my perspective.

@Big12BurnerKU Bottom half of P2 would be left out in this scenario. Or whatever the threshold is

CFB+@CFBN_Plus

@Big12BurnerKU I mean sure, but they can and would have to buy themselves out and pay whatever exit fee. To my knowledge B1G and SEC do not have any fees. Any school from XII and ACC would pay whatever to be apart of that select group.

@Big12BurnerKU I mean I’m sure networks would love to get on a top brand league and I’m sure they would find a way to weasel out or lower payouts to leagues that would lose members due to clauses in contracts we can’t see. Or they just bite the bullet for the short term.

Just a question, could this whole anti trust SBA amendment that is supposed to save CFB, end up backfiring? What if all the top brands from B1G, SEC, ACC, and XII break off and form their own separate league? Would anything be able to stop that other than “pride” and money?

What does Auburn coach Steven Pearl think about playing Miami University (OH) in the First Four? "I hope we do. It would mean that two very deserving teams made the tournament." Pearl makes Auburn's bubble case: espn.com/mens-college-b…

@TheOtherGygax @rltsports this maybe a dumb question (or maybe rather rhetorical bc the answer is pride and greed) but why dont leagues do this? for example why dont some of the G6 leagues form a mega for more money, security, and power? For example, would a combined MAC, SBC, CUSA be stronger as one?

@CFBN_Plus I’ve asked the same question to @rltsports. And he agrees that currently there is nothing stopping a group of conferences from collectively agreeing to pool their media rights currently. Or a “super-league” from doing a media deal too.

I have a question, why does the SBA need to be amended for CFB to consolidate? There have been serious talk about conferences merging in the past, so what is the size a conference can get before antitrust kicks in? Could P4 form 1 super conference? 2 P4 leagues merge? All FBS?

@flugempire If the P4 schools come together and set up a post season bowl system, does that prevent a P2 type breakaway or lends itself to more of a P4 breakaway? Interesting how the conferences are working together here while they are at odds elsewhere

I approve of concept where all 4 Power conferences are involved and conferences are in control of this 10 bowl game consortium. It does seem this idea, that could go in effect as early as 2027, can’t get across finish line without knowing what we are doing with CFP format.
Ross Dellenger@RossDellenger

This offseason stands to be the most dramatic for the future of bowls. P4 leaders are exploring several ideas, including a 10-bowl consortium - pitting P4 programs - without anymore conference-bowl affiliations and TV rights controlled by the leagues. bit.ly/4rXa7q8
