many could be asset rich, but cash poor and only can survive by not having to pay rent or a mortgage. Even in that case its not a luxury lifestyle by any means. The term "Millionaire" gives totally the wrong impression at times and so so many dont even fall into that bracket . If you retire today at 67 you hope for approx 20 years retirement but that is not guaranteed, neither is good health and any savings can very fast vanish
David Hearne, CFP™@dontdelay

If you want to help pensioners on £230 a week @RobertJenrick you should help them But you don't need* to increase (above inflation) the state pensions of millions of millionaire pensioners at the same time to do that. No one concerned about children in poverty ever proposes increasing benefits for wealthy parents too, but when it comes to pensioners in poverty, it seems wealthy pensioners should benefit too. *unless you need their votes I guess.

not the most selfish, maybe the hardest working , and able to work without computers, calculators, phones etc. Schools of the time instilled disciplin which lacks today. Working in a time where if you dont perform you get fired plain and simple. University was a choice not an expectation and many worked at age 14 or 15 gaining valuable experience and knowledge. Affordable housing, only if you saved and saved for a deposit and then worked hard on a property, rebuilding it yourself. Never had a penny from benefits all my working life and proud of that and worked for everything and yes houses were cheaper but wages were also way way lower, the ratio is similar. You did what you had to do to get a wage. At one point I had 3 jobs to make ends meet and my wife worked as well. Full days work, then two other jobs until 10 at night and working weekends as well. Today I believe people expect everything "on a plate" and dont really know what hard work is. @RobertJenrick for info

Boomers had the single best standard of living across their entire lives than any generation in history. Free university, affordable housing, the NICE economic years, and now the triple lock on pensions. They are, in aggregate, the single most selfish generation ever. I can’t afford to own my own house, I have massive university debts, I live in a time of high youth unemployment and stagnant economic growth, and @RobertJenrick now has the temerity to suggest I want to pay more in tax to fund gold plaited pensions for the richest generation ever. I know exactly how Reform came to the decision to keep the triple lock. Farage is actually instinctively against it but he’s seen the polling that shows getting rid of the triple lock would lead to a flood of voters going to the Tories or Labour. I hope Restore Britain actually have the guts to level with people and say we can’t afford to maintain the triple lock and instead commit to some combination of raising the retirement age, capping the rate of increase, introducing a degree of means testing, and actually in the long term getting the government out of the pensions business and shifting that responsibility onto employers and employees.

having paid all their life I think they are entitled to the same as everyone else who has paid in. The young will be older one day and it comes so fast, they will then be in "that boat". Is this a @GBNEWS view as I will re think watch the channel and go to @TalkTV
Miriam Cates@miriam_cates

By 2027, there will be 3million pensioners who pay higher or additional rate tax. These people, by definition, are in the top 20% of all UK earners. Yet they will still receive a £12K a year state pension, in a direct transfer of cash from the poorer young to the wealthier old.

time @UKLabour listened to people like this lady and not Miliband, she talks a lot of sense @KathrynPorter26 unlike Miliband in my view

but it can give security, a good future, many protected and expanding jobs and the abilty to make products we could otherwise not make. Miliband is on a sinking ship(net zero) saluting the flag as it goes down in my view. A sinking ship which will take many MP's seats and even its total existance of @UKLabour with it. If the rules dont help the UK we need to change the rules plain and simple so we can use wll the oil and gas we bring up

do us all a favour and get the proposed ban on Petrol and Diesel sales lifted, or push it back to 2040 as Europe has done and include, as again Europe is doing the fact that they can run on synthetic fuels 100% carbon neutral meaning that the ICE is no longer threatened
