actually, dem controlled wa gave boeing one of the largest corporate handouts in history in 2013 and they still left. Sorta muddies the implicit argument here that if governments bend to corporations, those corporations will stay and contribute to the tax base

Rocky is more of a gritty 70s character study than I’d assumed. Had seen the parodies all my life but when I finally saw it, while it’s certainly an inspirational sports movie, was surprised by like Paulie’s cruelty to Adrian or tender moments like the date at the closed ice rink

@marshmarigold I’ve been driving in New York City for a long time now and still get surprised sometimes! The thing is that driving is a skill that you always get better at and more comfortable with, and once you get used to it, driving in the city isn’t so hard after all!

@CFThomas2 I’ve had 10+ driving lessons in the city. The problem is that once I can drive alone, I’m not comfortable doing that in Toronto specifically. Even many experienced drivers refuse to drive here.

It feels so hopeless to have to continue paying $100 per hour-long driving lesson in downtown Toronto, just to eventually take the test but not want to drive alone in the city anyway because it’s not the place for a new driver
