@DrewBHeadley @adaiasand Same! I trained an animal that did fine and when I went to slice the brain there was no hippocampus. I was a first year grad student so I assumed I was crazy or I had got it wrong so... this is helping a lot 😂

@adaiasand This happened to a friend of mine in grad school. Funny enough, the rat without a hippocampus had been run on the Morris water maze and showed normal performance.

Neuroanatomical oddity: Mouse born without a hippocampus. The space for the hippocampus was preserved but empty!!
