This morning, CHBA officially released its Sector Transition Strategy for building 5.8 million homes. 🏗️🏘️ “What we are tabling is a strategy to support the industrialization of the sector," CHBA CEO Kevin Lee said to media in this morning's press conference. Today, the federal government announced it will remove the GST on purpose-built rental (PBR), fulfilling a long-standing recommendation by CHBA that gained additional traction recently as a result of rising interest rates and extensive advocacy by all levels of the Association. Provinces will now be encouraged to remove their portion of the tax on PBR, and municipalities should aim to reduce development taxes as well.
