Took my two youngest daughters to the Louisville zoo today. It’s was $50.50 for me and my gf at the door. The kids were free. Not too bad. I can live with that. The sun was blazing. It dawned on us that we were going to need sunscreen. We stopped by the gift shop and grabbed a tube of sunscreen the size of a travel toothpaste and two floppy hats for toddlers. Cheaply made hats with little animals printed on them. ‘That’ll be $65.69.’ ‘Excuse me?’ I said. I couldn’t believe it. These hats were MAYBE fifty cents each in bulk. MAYBE. They were retailing them for $25.99 each. 😳 Unfortunately, the zoo (and the sun) had me by the balls, so I swallowed my pride and paid for the shit. Next time I’ll prepare better. Halfway through the zoo, we decide to stop at their little cafe and grab lunch. I ordered two Caesar salads, two drinks for adults, two drinks for kids, and one hot dog kids meal while my gf found us a place to sit and eat. ‘That’ll be $69.51.’ ‘$69.51 for what?’ I responded with shock. The man reads me back my order and I’m waiting for the part where I ordered an 8ball of cocaine. ‘Jesus Christ, how do you people sleep at night??’ I said as politely as possible. After 20 minutes our order is ready for pickup. The salads are fucking child size at best and the croutons are CLEARLY leftover hamburger and hot dog buns chopped up. Like, really? Last but not least, I got the girls two plushies. (Decently priced. Reasonable quality. Nothing to bitch about there.) $63.08. My ass is already gaping at this point so what’s a little more ass fucking gonna do to a financially ruined man like myself. Anyways. To my point. Why don’t we have price gouging legislation? This should be illegal as fuck. Never going back to the Louisville Zoo.
