ICAR-IGFRI Jhansi regional station- CIHG Palampur conducted one day Awareness cum training programme on Fodder Production Systems and Grassland Management for enhanced livestock Productivity under SCSP for Scheduled Caste beneficiaries from Joginder Nagar, District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. A total of 131 beneficiaries attended the program and were demonstrated with different perennial forage Crops, and provided with planting material. On the occasion of Foundation Day celebration of ICAR-IGFRI, Jhansi, the regional centre - CIHG, Palampur organised Kisan Mela cum Technology Exhibition. The occasion was graced by Dr SK Yadav, Director CSIR-IHBT Palampur as the Chief Guest, Dr Sudesh Radotra ex OIC of the centre and Smt Reena Devi, Pradhan, Jogindernagar Mandi as Guests of Honour. Dr Rakesh Ahuja Asst. professor of Veterinary College Palampur delivered a talk on livestock management. A total of 45 scheduled caste farmers from Jogindernagr District Mandi attended the event, which were demonstrated with seeds of various fodder crops and drudgery reducing tools. The event was followed by a field visit for the farmers where farmers learnt practical aspects of fodder production and utilisation. @CIHG_IGFRI @icarindia

ICAR-IGFRI regional station-CIHG Palampur celebrated the 'Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas'. The program was chaired by the ex Mayor Palampur Smt. Poonam Bali as Chief Guest & Dr KK Patial, ex Dy Director Animal Husbandry, HP as the Guest of Honour. A total of 35 tribal farmers attended the programme. During the event, Dr Sheeraz Saleem Bhat welcomed the guests and farmers and highlighted the mandate and mission of the institute and the centre in uplifting the tribal farmers through impactful fodder technological interventions and management practices. Dr KK Patial highlighted the significance of the event and how better management and feeding practices have a role in improving livestock Productivity. Smt Poonam Bali expressed her views about the event and thrust upon the adoption of improved technologies for enhanced livestock Productivity and increased income. Program attended by 55 tribal farmers which were demonstrated with different perennial Forage Crops. Under the SCSP- Bhadawari Network Project, a farmer goshthi was organised at Hasarkala village in Lalitpur district on 23.09.2025. Dr. ML Jat, Hon'ble Secretary, DARE, Govt. of India & Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi; along with Hon'ble Deputy Director General (Crop Science)- Dr. DK Yadava, visited ICAR-IGFRI, Jhansi to chair the launching ceremony of the 'Centre of Excellence for Research on Bioenergy Grasses', and to lay the foundation stone of the 'Advanced Plant Phenomics Facility' under the IGFRI-Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) collaborative project. At the outset, the Director, IGFRI, Dr Pankaj Kaushal welcomed the dignitaries and briefed about the institute's achievements highlighting forage varietal development, production techniques, grassland rejuvenation and different aspects of forage conservation, mechanisation and utilisation, and also informed the remarkable contribution of institute in form of bringing down the nation's green fodder deficit to 11%. Followed by this, Dr Shahid Ahmad, PI of the IGFRI-Reliance collaborative project, apprised the objectives and importance of the project and informed that the project would contribute by utilizing perennial grasses to revolutionise sustainable bioenergy production under challenging environments. The officials of RIL, Mr Manish Roorkiwal- Head, Energy Plantation and Mr Vamsi Jastri- Senior Vice-President, Energy Plantation, have also joined the dias and expressed the gratitude for joining hands with IGFRI and informed about the significance of the collaboration by advancing forage research and utilising grasses for bioenergy purposes. In continuation, DDG (CS), in his address, applauded the efforts of the institute in developing various fodder technologies which contributed immensely in the development of the country's livestock sector. Hon'ble DG, in his concluding remarks, appreciated the activities and achievements of the institute and commended the efforts of fulfilling the livelihood of millions of farmers.
