Customs Disrupts Criminal Networks in the Caribbean Customs plays a critical role in protecting societies and disrupting organized crime. In just three weeks, Operation CALYPSO 2, led by the World Customs Organization (WCO), delivered significant results across the Caribbean: 🔹 119 illicit firearms (including 21 assault rifles) and 332 firearm parts seized 🔹 402 reports of the detection of prohibited or restricted goods Through strong regional cooperation with partners such as INTERPOL, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security, Customs administrations across 22 countries worked together to disrupt trafficking routes, intercept weapons and narcotics, and prevent them from reaching communities and organized crime groups. A powerful reminder that intelligence sharing, coordinated enforcement, and capacity building are key to strengthening border security and safeguarding global supply chains.
