Do in-situ bacterial population dynamics make you feel warm and fuzzy inside? Is soil C cycling your vibe? If you answered yes to either, you might enjoy my poster (PS16.207) downstairs today at #ISME18

Salü #ISME18! Come learn about the effects of calcium on the soil microbiome and carbon cycling at poster 209 this (Thursday) afternoon! This project was led by @ItamarShabtai, who would be loving Lausanne if he could make it.

Our new study shows that data availability statements are not very useful; 1670 (93%) authors who indicated that data are available on request either did not respond or declined to share their data with us. Journal of Clinical Epidemiology: doi.org/10.1016/j.jcli…

@nonanswernom Did article A add something to the discussion that article B did not? If article A just cites a result, cite B. If article A adds significantly to the conversation/makes new insights, cite both.

SHOOT, the phylogenetic sequence search engine, has been published! SHOOT is like BLAST, but instead of a list of similar sequences you get a maximum likelihood phylogenetic tree for your query gene sequence. Try it👉 shoot.bio Article👉 bit.ly/3qLGb2N

Hi @stokcoldbrew! Love your coffee, but HATE how hard it is to recycle your 48 oz bottles. The plastic film is v hard to remove - most people likely throw it in the recycling with the film, ruining recycling batches. Would love to see this change. Are you on it?

Dear university colleagues, Do you have grad student fees, what are they per year, and can you help defray for students? If yes, how? From grants rolled into tuition+fees, from non grant funds, stipend plus ups? I’ll compile and reshare. Please retweet! in need of solutions.

Many strains of C. acnes are all over the skin of your face but each pore contains only ONE strain. Each strain gets comfy in its pore so it doesn't have to compete with other strains. An example of spatial structure shaping the microbial community. cell.com/cell-host-micr…
