@TheFergusonWay @AmarVijh999 So fergie should have been sacked both in his 3rd and 4th year at the club. Did I get this right?

@AmarVijh999 If, by the end of the 2nd year, you have regressed, then there's a case to be made that it is right.

It's only been around 4 months under Carrick, so I don't think anyone can fully say yet what he's trying to build or where this is definitely heading especially with Champions League and a much busier schedule next season. But after almost 13 years without a league title, patience naturally becomes a lot harder. At some point, you need to genuinely believe that the manager will take the club back to the top, and I'm still not fully sure Carrick is that guy (I don't know why because the results have been great so far, but I still think there could be something here that I am missing.) At the same time, constantly restarting every 2-3 years is probably a huge reason United are stuck in this cycle in the first place. That's why I genuinely can't decide where I stand. All I can say is that we need to win and we need to win fast.

@NoushardMUFC What pedigree has Nagelsman got exactly? He got slapped 5-0 by Ole who people were saying was a PE teacher... He's casually slapped by Japan with Germany(!) and is about to get slapped again in a tournament cause his sides don't know what dropping back means.

A lot of people asking if , if we had hired Julian Negelsmann as interim, and did what Carrick has done at United, would I be happy giving him the full time job. My answer is simple . —Yes. Because Negelsmann is already an experienced and better manager than Carrick, But before we go to that, Negelsmann could never take a deal like this, interim manager, no future hope promised from the beginning for the full time job regardless of how he performs That is for rookie managers , not for a manager like Negelsmann with his pedigree.

If Carrick was 7th or 10th by now, no one would be saying he deserves the job. More like he earned this by finishing 3rd with same team you would have accepted 8th for.

@nqatpod For the life of me, I can't understand why Tuchel is among the "big names". He has been horrendous to work with everywhere he has been. Hoenes is still criticising him for how shit he was at Bayern and it has been two years now since he left. He finished 3rd with Bayern...

No Question About That
Truth is, it had to be Carrick. Pretty much every ‘big name’ option is tied up elsewhere this summer: Ancelotti, Tuchel, Enrique, Nagelsmann. Options on the margins carry greater risk, disrupting current momentum and player contentment. Carrick understands elite players. He’s managed his resources well. Played a pragmatic brand of football that has achieved excellent results. It’s really the only way he could have done it with this group. Judgement will be different next season. Carrick will presumably have the midfield resources and legs to take more risks, press more aggressively, try and control games more than they have. Getting recruitment right is more important than the head coach anyway. Blow that this summer and no coach will play the way fans want and get results too. The era of manager as messiah is gone.

@FergieStandards Find who runs the FA and EFL (who own PGMOL) and you will get your answer... P.S. It's Debbie Hewitt who's chair of the FA and a lifelong Liverpool fan and Trevor Birch who is EFL CEO and a Liverpool fan and former youth player.

12 Fouls committed by Liverpool players including a tactical foul while Everton were breaking by Gravenberch, a clear last man foul on Dewsbury-Hall and an assault on Gueye by Van Dijk but 0 yellow cards for them How do they get such favourable decisions every week? 🤷 #EVELIV

Monday Night Football 2025/26 MNF fixtures are known until Mon 4th May (GW35) and it's a very uneven picture. #EFC and #MUFC a big draw for broadcasters but these unsocial slots cost travelling fans extra time off work etc. We understood no club was meant to play more than 5 games in these Mon/Fri slots but that's clearly not happening and it's not fair on those supporters. Both the broadcasters and Premier League have questions to answer on this and we'll be raising these TV/fixture issues at our upcoming supporter engagement meetings. Broadcasters put a lot of money into the game but, as we saw through Covid, without a crowd football just isn't the same. Matchgoers deserve respect.

@Malachians All I know is that if instead of United it was a certain team that wears red from a port city in the NW of England, that is a penalty for Amad and no foul in the Maguire challenge...

Stuart Atwell was absolutely petrified of the media response if he gave Utd a 2nd penalty and VAR wanted to support their colleague on the field rather than give the right decision. The arrogance of officials is something that needs addressing, I understand it’s a hard job but they’re deciding games every week more than the two teams on the field.

5th in the PL table. 9 defeats in 29 games. Hey @Carra23 and @GNev2, when are you scheduling an interview with Arne Slot? questioning about his tactics after spending £500m in the summer. Or does it only apply to Manchester United managers ?

Manchester Utd are the only club who will have numerous VAR mistakes made against them, factually backed up by PGMOL’s own data where they admit to mistakes made, then get given a clear red card in their favour yet have the whole world outraged claiming corrupt favouritism.

This coverage of Florian Wirtz has reached client journalism status. Never seen a big money signing reach endangered species level protection. Cool, he's started contributing G/A.. vs Newcastle, Qarabag, Burnley, Barnsley, Fulham, Wolves & 10 man Tottenham. He also cost £116m, so he should be. Pogba, Antony, Maguire, Caicedo, Rice, Lukaku, Sancho, Pepe, Højlund, Sesko, none were ever given this kind of grace. Must be a Liverpool thing, huh?
The Athletic | Football@TheAthleticFC

Florian Wirtz had many adjustments to make when he moved to England. He needed to put on weight and muscle to condition himself to a new athletic standard. He needed to understand what it was to be worth more than any other German footballer in history. And he had to do it while Liverpool were in flux. Now, a corner seems to have been turned. @SebSB & @adjones_journo 🔗 nytimes.com/athletic/70179…

Anyone who thinks this is funny, I honestly don’t know what to say. Imagine ex players/legends talking about current players, especially someone like Lisandro Martinez, just before a derby. Bullshit, man. You’ll never see ex players from other top-6 clubs speak like this about their current squad. Agree or not, these ex players are one of the main reasons why we are in this situation.

Xabi Alonso was doing something great at Bayer Leverkusen with his 3-4-4 formation, Madrid employed him to come perform that magic for them, guess what he did when he got the job?? Yea he changed to suit his player’s strength. 😂😂 They told us Amorim was stubborn.

@drew8hendo88 @CK4Rlz @Craig_AOL Because points matter. XG means nothing. You can spam 25 shots a game, some might hit the target, and you’ll develop a good xG. But it doesn’t mean you created any good chance. Maybe watch the games and stop reading spreadsheets to form your opinions

Unable to give me an answer as to why we’re actually worse this season when there’s only 1 unavailable starter…. But yeah, injuries 👍

@DylanBrennan180 It’s not an excuse though, is it. It affected liverpool the same the season before. Ah yes, god forbid players are left out for a certain game. If that’s what you think, keep scrolling 👍🏻
