The motion on officially recognising the Latin American community in Haringey has been passed unanimously. This has been followed by a standing ovation from Councillors inside Tottenham Town Hall 👏👏👏👏👏

We did it! 🎉 We welcome the decision by Haringey to pass the motion to recognise Latin Americans as an ethnic group in monitoring and policymaking, following our deputation alongside @wardscornerplan The vote was unanimous and our local community is celebrating a historic win!

Unlike the Census, there will be no more “Other” – no more statistical invisibility. The @CLAUK_Org has done incredible work for their community, and this change is down to them and the Seven Sisters market traders most of all.

Last night at Full Council we passed a motion recognising the Latin American community as an official ethnic group. This is a huge moment for Latin Americans in Haringey. Not only is the iconic Seven Sisters Market re-opening, but they can now proudly identify as Latin American
