@CLE_CLCFan @EvSynWilliams The Pilgrims—as with the Puritans, and the Quakers—had extreme religious views, but they had views that were *radical* for the time, not at all conservative for the religious traditions of seventeenth-century Europe.

If you think about it, pilgrims were too conservative for 17th century Europe. Fled to another unknown place so they could have their fundamental beliefs intact. America was founded by 17th century religious extremists.
