CLE CONDUCTS AUDIT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI SCHOOL OF LAW Earlier today, the Council of Legal Education conducted an audit at the University of Nairobi School of Law following the expiry of its Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) training licence. Before the audit, CLE CEO, Prof. Jack Mwimali, paid a courtesy visit to the University of Nairobi Main Campus, where he met with the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Ayub Gitau. The audit was undertaken in line with CLE’s statutory mandate to regulate legal education and training, including the licensing, supervision and quality assurance of legal education providers in Kenya. The exercise was led by the Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Jack Mwimali, and the Director, Standards, Licensing, Supervision and Compliance, Ms. Annah Konuche, alongside Team members from the Directorate of Standards, Licensing, Supervision and Compliance. The University of Nairobi was represented by Prof. Winifred Kamau, Dean of the Faculty of Law, who also serves as a Council Member at CLE, Dr. Bett Jackson Kiprotich, and other members of the institution’s leadership and faculty. The audit focused on key areas, including admission requirements, CBET preparedness, curriculum implementation, staffing, infrastructure, library resources, and overall compliance with CLE regulatory standards. Speaking during the exercise, Prof. Mwimali reaffirmed CLE’s commitment to upholding the quality of legal education and training in Kenya, noting that regular audits are essential in ensuring that institutions continue to meet the required standards for training future legal professionals.
