There’s nothing like walking out your front door and seeing a tree coming to life. 🌳 More shade. Less heat. A better-looking block. That’s what a street tree can do, and you can get one planted for free! Landscape Management is growing Charlotte’s tree canopy one neighborhood street at a time. No need for yard space. These trees are planted along the street, where they benefit the whole community. Request a tree for your street at cltgov.me/streettree.

We love seeing young people active and outdoors, but e‑bike misuse is creating dangerous situations on our roads. We’re seeing more juveniles riding them recklessly on busy roads without regard for traffic laws. That puts riders, drivers, and pedestrians at risk. E‑bike misuse can result in bike seizures, juvenile charges and most importantly — serious injuries or fatalities. Let’s work together to keep our streets safe. Parents: please talk with your kids about responsible riding and the laws that apply to e‑bikes. Safety isn’t optional, it’s life‑saving.

🚧 Construction Notice: I-277 Lane Closures Starting today (Tuesday, June 2), the inside lanes of the John Belk Freeway (I‑277) in both directions will close for approximately four months as the contractor installs barrier walls and removes/reconstructs the center median for Rail Trail Bridge construction. Barrier wall installation and median demolition are expected to wrap up by Tuesday, June 9. During this one-week period, additional overnight lane closures may be needed. Residents may notice some increased noise during demolition. The inside lanes of I-277 will remain closed for the full four‑month construction period to allow crews to work safely in the center median. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The ramp to South Boulevard (Exit 1E) on the north side of I-277 remains reduced to one lane while work continues on the north side of the bridge. Ramps on the south side of I-277 remain open. To ensure worker and motorist safety, please obey all directional signage in the project area. For project details, visit charlottenc.gov/railtrailbridge.
