“When someone is absurdly predictable and nods vehemently in agreement with every one of their tribes policies, frankly, they are full of shit. I don’t buy it because they are blindly allegiant without applying any critical thinking. They are loyal to a tribe, not to an idea…”

I have started a FREE Substack! I’d love you to subscribe. My first post is about how modern day media personalities too often become caricatures of themselves. substack.com/home/post/p-15…

@andrewrdn463 I am pro-choice and I voted yes in the referendum. I think Senator Kovacic is a brilliant politician and I think she’s making an incredible contribution to our Parliament. Your hyperbolic grammar and aggressive remarks are unnecessary. We dont have a homogenous culture/country.

Calling Cat Ladies, Brats and MAGA fans alike… 🎉💥 It’s a political showdown of epic proportions! Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump: The Expert’s Analysis. A debate set to be spicier than a reality TV reunion and yet more respectful than social media comments sections!

Contrary to current social media pile-ones, you actually don’t have to provide an opinion if you don’t want to. My piece in today’s The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. smh.com.au/national/i-don…

Josh could have challenged Scott Morrison for the leadership, he didn’t. Josh could have put his hand up for Kooyong, he didn’t. He could have run for the Victorian Senate vacancy, he didn’t. Women are not collateral damage for Josh Frydenberg’s regrets.

@mrsalimiftari If we weren’t going to stand by the people we have endorsed, why did we do any of these preselections ahead of redistributions? People have quit jobs and campaigned for months.

@CMMortlock Yes. It is the fairest thing to do. The alternative is another capable female candidate is left without a seat. And to the question of Josh - reopening preselections for a fundamentally different seat is a different proposition to taking away someone’s endorsement

If Josh wanted to go for the seat, he had ample opportunity months ago. The preselection was in March.

@mrsalimiftari So we reopen all of them? “According to calculations by one committee member, the proposed boundaries mean that 24 per cent of voters in Kooyong are new voters. But that figure is eclipsed by those for Menzies, Isaacs, Hotham (27 per cent each) and Chisholm (33 per cent).”

@CMMortlock Yes, we have an impressive candidate in Kooyong but also one in Higgins. If anything, there is a compelling case to reopen Kooyong, Higgins and Chisholm - and no, not for Josh, but to give the large number of new members in each electorate the chance to pick their candidate

Saying that a woman would be expected to simply hand over a now more likely winnable seat on a platter is insinuating they’re crumb maidens. And it wouldn’t be in the best interests of the party/democracy.

Now be a good girl and let the men take it from here, pet! The women who have been preselected and campaigning for months are not seat warmers for dudes.

@DigitalMediaBoy @SkyNewsAust I agree with her. I think certainly for u18 we should have a complete ban on algorithms. And for adults it’s opt in Or at least more transparent and asking for consent for where they want to funnel us.

Sen Sarah Hanson Young just said on @SkyNewsAust that X et al need to be "dismantled" because of "their algorithms". That's an extreme step too far. These sorts of statements are concerning for our civil liberties. These politicians need to stop political point-scoring against big tech and consider where censoring video content online starts and ends. There's far worse than just the knife stabbing last week. You can't censor it all. #auspol

This podcast is a must listen for anyone frustrated with how slow and inefficient politics/governance has become. We are trying to appease every single stakeholder on every single idea and it’s entirely counterproductive to progress in any area. podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/the…

@abl567 This isn’t what’s happening though. Plenty of women do want to run and are putting their hands up, they just often aren’t preselected.

@CMMortlock What if more and more women just don’t want to do it? Both politics and the corporate ladder? What if the reduction in numbers is because women want different things like motherhood? Every single mum I know is fiercely proud and defensive of their role as mums and prioritise it.
