The suspect ignored the commands, reached for the purse, then raised his firearm and shot at the officer. The officer returned fire and took cover behind his patrol car. The man fled into a nearby apartment complex, where more gunfire was exchanged. The suspect was hit multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
