@LeedsMathsJam By chance, we checked X today, having avoided it for months. We were surprised to see you still posting on this site. We’ve migrated to the nicer Mathstodon. That’s where you can find us.

We‘re at table 8 - the long one on the right. Might be low attendance tonight - some of the regulars have sent apologies for various reasons.

A farmer has a field in the shape of a regular hexagon, with a side length of 40m. A horse is tied to a rope at one corner of the field. The rope is 50m long. What percentage of the field can the horse roam in? A silly story, but I like the mathematical problem solving required!

Should be good. If you enjoy that event, be aware that @CNMMathsJam meets monthly to do just this sort of thing. See mathsjam.com or ask @stecks and @mscroggs at the event.
Katie Steckles@stecks

This year at #CheltSciFest, instead of my usual packed schedule, I'm only doing one event - a Puzzles and Pints event with the amazing @mscroggs on Friday 7th June. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday 24 April - see the full programme here: cheltenhamfestivals.com/science

Cheltenham MathsJam is meeting tonight at the Norwood Arms. Sorry for lack of email. It’s not for want of trying, but your organiser’s ISP is having one of their periodic bouts of poor service and emails aren’t sending.

We are at table 74 outside at the Norwood Arms. Thanks @chalkdustmag for the delivery of magazines, including the back issues we missed during the pandemic. Our Mathsjammers are engrossed.

Thee of us here tonight. We’ve been doing puzzles from Alex Bellos books. Now pondering how these cubes are constructed. Each is composed of two solid parts that come apart. They each have a different construction.

Nice puzzle posted by @icecolbeveridge on Mastodon (that he said came from Reddit): Toggle one pixel to make this correct. No spoilers for those who don't see it!
