@KevZag Indeed! Thanks for sharing. The same plane also put in camp for our Allan Hills ice coring team, drilling for million+ year old ice. They are just wrapping up their season now.

This particular plane has been running flights out of Pole for the past several weeks supporting the @COLDEX_STC project. It fires radar through the mile-thick ice sheet in hopes of locating ancient ice which may capture gaps in the earth's climate record.

Had a neat opportunity to poke around a KBA Basler DC-3. It's in pretty good shape for an 82 year old aircraft that saw service on D-Day!

Drilling is running smoothly from 8:00 to 0:00: 30 m of ice were added today, reaching a depth of more than 1260 m. Core processing is going well too and at this rate they will caught up with the drilling by next week. The dual tube snow sampler was also tested. 📸Muhl©PRNA/IPEV
