Finished the new Honkai Fate Event on stream the other day! As someone who enjoyed the last one, this one was WAY better. I loved the new slay the spire-esq gameplay, in some cases it actually felt like I was using the servant (mainly with Gil lol). Building decks n' stuff was actually kinda fun. Also, the story was a lot better this time too.
Now it could be my bias towards Rin, since she is one of my favorite characters and I am happy she is in this game, but it felt like they were focusing a lot more on the actual Fate characters this collab, which was really nice to see. I felt like the last one suffered from too much focus on Grady and the made-up penacony servant. The focus on Rin worked pretty well, and I liked seeing her interact with so many of HSR's cast of characters, especially the Cas and Polyxia interactions bringing up topics about Sakura, very nice touch (speaking of which amphoreus crumbs, let's goooo!) I also liked how they explained why Ishtar is here, and is honestly a smart way of reusing assets, with her clone of Rin having her red eyes and the little stocking frill that Ishtar has. Speaking of smart reuse, really happy we didn't get another "Britain" situation. Honestly was really smart to have Castorice's ult essentially be a reality marble, since that's technically what it would be.
Honestly, I think the only thing I didn't like about the event is the voice stuff, since I do play the game in English most of the time. Really hope they'll eventually just do what Tekken does and just let the Fate characters speak Japanese and the other characters speak in English if you have the setting on. I spent most of this event switching between the two just for certain lines lol
Overall, it was a great event, and I love that Rin is in the game. I think I have found the first character I have to E6.
@Garmentmaker02 It's been almost 5 days and even Saintontas hasn't made a video about it, Tectone's gone, his old clique has moved on from drama farming. It makes a huge difference in the discourse already.
//The reason this collab is so good compared to last years is that it actually explores both HSR and Fate characters and develops them instead of spending majority of their run time on the guy who shit himself /hj
@dimbreath Shes got a star rail design....and designs like that are why I never played star rail. Just kinda bland tbh....
I miss the 1.0 design philosophy from zzz....i feel like they got away from that real vision. Fk all the ppl who complained and forced them to change everything 🙄
Fate Collab Part 2 - HSR Day 1 Revenue Performance!
The second part of the Fate collaboration went live yesterday, so let’s see how it performed.
I’m not going to lie: this collaboration performed significantly worse than last year’s.
A decline was to be expected since it no longer had the same “new” factor, but this is still a pretty substantial drop compared to the first collaboration and one of the lowest performing banners of this HSR year.
As always, the rankings were recorded at midnight JST at the end of day 1.
The JP and CN rankings refer to iOS, while the AppMagic ranking provides a broader global perspective.
With a 3rd place ranking in Japan and 16th place in China, the Fate collaboration lands toward the lower end of this year’s HSR banner performances.
The only banner that performed worse in both markets was Ashveil, who ranked 9th in Japan and 26th in China.
The collaboration also ranked 28th globally on AppMagic, tying Ashveil’s day 1 ranking.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that the two banners generated exactly the same revenue, but their global performances may have been in a similar ballpark.
Since the Fate collaboration performed better than Ashveil in Asia but achieved the same AppMagic ranking, it may have performed worse on Western servers by comparison.
Needless to say, I wasn’t expecting to compare the Fate collaboration to Ashveil of all units…
This could potentially be another Norma situation in which AppMagic failed to update correctly. To rule that out, I’ll check the ranking again tomorrow. However, if these results are confirmed, it wouldn’t be a particularly good look compared to last year’s collaboration or to other HSR banners in general.
For comparison, during last year’s collaboration:
Saber and Archer held 1st place in Japan for three consecutive days, reached 8th place in China, and ranked 8th globally on AppMagic for two consecutive days.
A very different performance.
TOP 5 MARKETS:
1) Japan: 3rd
2) Hong Kong: 5th
3) Singapore: 8th
4) South Korea: 11th
5) China: 16th
With that, I’ll leave the discussion to HSR players.
Were the new units too weak?
Were they simply less hyped than Saber and Archer?
Or is HSR itself gradually losing momentum?
I also want to clarify that these results still represent a large amount of revenue. As always, everything is relative, and I’m comparing this performance with previous HSR banners.
I'll leave the graphs below
#HSR
@GachaAnalytics 1. HSR is falling off.
2. Collab banners no more fomo and collab chars are weak.
3. Gacha games in general is dying due to having too much choices.
