@natashaeveritt7 Surprising, because you'd think it would be easier to implement those sorts of caps in the EFL. The political and legal hurdles wouldn't be as steep, in theory.

@Chris_Taylor32 Mansfield had period of being on top in the first half. It was end to end, just lacked any quality from either side to put it in the net other than the scruffy goal.

I think we need to take stock a little on tonight. It wasn’t great.. but their only attempt was a spawny deflection .. other than that they offered nothing and we dominated.. nothing fell our way summed up by Pennington’s deflection went past the post #bcafc

@JamieRaynor It was a nasty collision, you could argue whoever the Bradford player was got away with a card. The only mistake in that sequence is from the referee letting Bradford continue to play to so long, really poor showing from referee. The footage proves the cynic wrong.

Absolutely right, head injuries are no joke. The cynic would suggest that - given where Bradford were in attack and Mansfield a defender (Sweeney) down - then it may have been done tactically. There is also, rightly, the opposing view the head injury was genuine and of course merited halting play. As is the modern game, where I think its fair to say both instances occur, I was trying to reflect that.

In relation to the concussion substitution at #bcafc last night, in 2024 IFAB stated: “• Where a team makes a ‘concussion substitution’, the opposing team can use an ‘additional substitute’ and receives an ‘additional substitution’ opportunity. This additional opportunity can be used only for the ‘additional substitute’ and not for a ‘normal substitute’.” Effectively, Bradford City would have been entitled to make a sixth substitution as a result of Mansfield’s use of the concussion substitution, which is something I’ve learnt today. downloads.theifab.com/downloads/addi…

@JamieRaynor I dunno if it was you Jamie lad because there was two passionately bias fans on the commo, which is fine, but one of them suggested Sweeney may have feigned a head injury and the referee fell for it. In reality the referee let it go on for too long, head injuries are no joke.

If you're referring to the moment where I presented the fact that referees rightly have to respond, and thus halt play (regardless of game situation) because of head injury concern, along with the much discussed counter argument that players are aware of such concern and know that it will stop play - then yes, that was me

@JamieRaynor If it was Jamie mate, please do better in future, maybe wait for the replay before saying such things. I get you are bias, but there’s a line shag, good lad.

@JamieRaynor Was you the commentator that suggested Sweeney was faking it in the first half? He got absolutely clattered, very poor from the referee blowing his whistle so late.

@Graham_F180 @ed_aarons It was idiotic, I understand needing to get out of the situation but they did not need to spend even close to what they did.

One small upside of another stupid oil price spike is that now there are relatively many good electric cars, so this stupid crap might motivate at least some people/companies/governments to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels.

The Spectator
The Spectator@spectator·
Ed Miliband, a long-term ally of Rachel Reeves, has banned all new oil and gas exploration in the North Sea. The Energy Secretary’s fatwa against fossil fuels owes more to fundamentalism than any rational assessment of our national interest. The name of his department puts ‘energy security’ ahead of ‘net zero’, yet in his pursuit of the latter he has sabotaged the former. Last year, for the first time since the 1960s, not a single new exploratory oil or gas well was drilled in the British sector of the North Sea. Yet, across the maritime border, -Norway continues to exploit its resources to the full. Our Scandinavian neighbour extracted some £50 billion in oil and gas last year – enough to pay for the Royal Navy five times over. ✍️ The Spectator Article | spectator.com/article/ed-mil…

The very reason that you have the right to protest is because this great man stood up against tyranny and Nazism. His leadership provided you the freedom and the security to object and to stand up for what you believe in. To disgrace his legacy is a prime example of utter stupidity and a lack of understanding as to what this great nation is all about.

I can honestly say that for the first time in my 66 years on the planet I'm absolutely devastated by the result of a political election. I live 250 miles away from Manchester so it's highly unlikely that my day to day life will be affected by the decision of the voters of Gorton and Denton but this result is a symptom of the utterly dire state of this country - a country that has been drastically, callously and cynically altered by the actions of decades of governments promising one thing and delivering the exact opposite. We now have sectarian voting across large swathes of the country, with certain "communities" being targeted by unscrupulous so-called "leaders" who would hoist up their own Mother and leave her dangling in the rain if it meant they could squeeze a few more votes from the people whose foreign flags they proudly wave as they sell their souls to the Gods and prophets of those they refer to as "our people". It sickens me to my core. This is Britain. Our predecessors - YOUR parents, grandparents, great grandparents and THEIR parents going back thousands of years built a fantastic country. We had a coherent, structured and effective national "community". It worked. We were immensely proud of our achievements. We were the envy of the World. And now we have THIS. It's not just a symptom of years of mismanagement on a massive scale, it's proof beyond all doubt that we are being systematically, intentionally and effectively destroyed with intent by those we have trusted to put our best interests at the forefront of everything they do. And we appear to be stupid enough not to care. Last night's result proves that. I fear it's over.
