Continental calves some trade in Tullow mart today. Seen some Belgian blue calves 14 days old making over €600. I left feeling very modest with what I got for Friesian bulls 😮‍💨

Weighing maiden heifers today all February early March born and average weight is 325kg

30th calf today 25 fleckvieh and five Angus. Of the fleckviehs we have 17 females 8 males All after stock bulls never had a run of heifer calves like this naturally. Think it’s 11 coloured calves we have out of the 17 females.

1400 Jersey herd near George. 400 kg lwt doing 580 kg Ms. Most of the farm oversown each year , growing 15 to 18 ton dm mostly irrigated. Cows fed 2 tonne . 3 herds on age basis. S Africa.

A Cow caught on a security cam opening the electric fence. The farmer installed it after he assumed someone was doing it. Now we are left with the explanation of why cows 40 miles away have just started doing the exact same thing?

Cows are all dried off and at grazing. Finished the season at 373,991ms. 566ms/cow. 1640ms/ha. Average scc 124,033. New farm records all round 👌

I might get shit all the time that I milk herefords (fleckvieh) but at 597ms in 265 as a 2 year old (heifer average was 487ms) and a PW of 602 I think I'll be keeping her on.

@tommywalsh1010 Super milk figure. At 31 litres here but urea after dropping to 10! Protein holding at 3.6 but fat at the same figure! Feeding 6 kilos and up to 10 on feed to yield for higher milkers. Dry is badly needed, afc similar to ur own. Good weather from next Tuesday on by all accounts🤘

Cover per cow down to 143 Nuts up to 7kg from 5.5 . Some dry , good grass growing weather would be nice . Production getting close to 2.5kgms
