@roodle_pipski I'm so used to typing my own name that anything that starts with 'cha' automatically gets my own name typed in first

Does anyone else’s fingers refuse to type certain words on a keyboard? I’m incapable of typing add first time, my fingers always go straight to ass. #typing #officework

@HealthFdn The same messages keep coming up time and time again but the podcast also raised how entrenched inequality is, and how systemic change - namely driven by a bottom up, frontline approach, is really needed for our communities to see a difference in their lives

Started my day with a listen of the @HealthFdn's latest podcast - hearing the similarities and differences between Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester, as well as the fundamental (yet complex!) way to tackle health inequalities - 'ask people what they need to live better lives'
The Health Foundation@HealthFdn

NEW PODCAST: In the UK, life expectancy is lowest in Glasgow. Why is this? And what can we all learn from longstanding efforts to improve health there? @JenniferTHF discusses with experts @HarryBurns16 & Dr David Walsh in our latest episode. LISTEN ⬇️ health.org.uk/news-and-comme…

@AdibaSultan There are writing groups that you can join on Meetup, some of my best inspiration is from @laurajaneauthor's writing courses, and she's got one coming up in September (£ though, but worth it). There's a Manchester FB group for Nanowrimo too that has lots of support/ideas too!

@rutherfordkaty One of my favourite places to write is in coffee shops - so my word count this last year has been unsurprisingly low. I try to reacreate it at home with a nice coffee and 'coffee shop sounds' on spotify - a bit weird but the white noise works!

For the first time in ages I have some ideas for blog posts swirling round my head. But the writer's block is real! Any tips on getting over the initial hurdle?

Getting stuck into the next @WHMmanchester report today - so many good stories to tell! I might need several people to edit this down at some point, I don't want to leave anything out 🙈

@IdeasAlliance_ published a blog a few weeks ago from a Public Health professional - it struck a chord with the work we've been doing in Manchester to tackle health inequalities - so I wrote a response to reflect on how community led initiatives can tackle health inequalities

When really, what we're saying is 'What would you love to do in your community? What can we do with you? What do you need us to do for you?' We say 'with, not for' a lot in this work, but there's still a place for 'for' if that's what communities say they need.

The expectation that communities need to bear the burden of all they want to achieve - especially in communities who are most in need of support - is unrealistic and places the onus on them to fix themselves...

Yesterday, @Harriet_MCR said 'When we say we want things to be 'Community Led', communities can think we expect them to do all the work, but we're here to do that work too' and I thought it was a really clear way of putting one of the main barriers to 'community led' work...
