As a principal, I will continue to encourage the arts, philosophy, the humanities... as much as the maths & sciences. When I was sick, science saved me - but the humanities got me through it. You cannot have one without the other. The world cannot be reduced to such binaries.

Disadvantaged kids 'fell further in maths, reading due to COVID' smh.com.au/national/nsw/d… via @smh. It's right to know how the kids are going; but "falling further" is alarmist language that implies an absolute standard befitting a factory model of education not one of life & hope
