@SNAPPYMINER The late Larry Zimmer told me that was doing a WAC game for TV and there was a call that Haskins didn't agree with. He came to media table and asked to see a replay. He then asked the ref to review it and change the call. The refs did, which became the first video review.
CUSA fans overreacting to this post? This isn’t so much a UTEP thing as a conference thing… • CUSA has lost key members over time like UCF, Houston, SMU, and Memphis, whom UTEP fans enjoyed facing. Then, the wave of UNT, UTSA, Rice, etc. left. The league lacks a real identity. • The league has tried suing members on the way out before like LA Tech, including lawsuits against Marshall, Old Dominion and Southern Miss. • TV deals are subpar. The nationwide visibility is terrible. • CUSA’s geographic landscape is atrocious. • Perfect conference for transitioning from FCS to FBS!
@Znelson1022 @SSN_NMState Ya because we were in legit conferences, unlike NMSU who was in a conference that only had to beat GCU for the longest time to make the tourney. WAC didn’t become legit until the last 3 years.
UNM state funding for stadium upgrades could happen soon.
